How to get a discount out of Teléfonica

Just for fun, I rang Teléfonica yesterday and said I was going to change our ADSL lines to a new provider.

With no quibbling, they offered me six months at half price, and upped the bandwidth to 6 mb.

Worth a try!

Telefonica falls down on Firefox

Despite spending over 440 million euros on R&D last year, and a further 37 million on their webpages, both www.telefonicaonline.com and www.movistar.es fall down when being viewed in Firefox or non IE browsers.

In fact, they don´t pigging work when you start using the advanced functions. Broken interfaces and unusable buttons because of badly scripted webpages.

I tried to send them a complaint, but, of course, their complaints form doesn´t work in Firefox. Eventually found a “suggestions” form that worked. Sigh.

- To this list you can also add the online bank of Grupo Banco Popular, which doesn’t allow you to send transfers if you use Firefox! Aaargh!

Telefonica ADSL settings for your line

Somebody asked me this the other day and I though I might as well post it here:

If you loose your ADSL configuration (or buy a new router), the quickest way to get your configuration details from Telefonica is to call 900 502 010 from the telephone line your TelefonicaADSL runs on.

You get through to a Stephen Hawkin style computer that tells you your Telefonica ADSL configuration. Have a pen handy. It’s free, so you can call as many times as you like. Again, it only gives you the Telefonica ADSL configuration for that line you’re calling from.
