Madrid wants cars out of its city centre

They´re planning to put a speed trap in every tree and a camera on every red light, it seems. Don’t expect Jeremy Clarkson to make a visit any time soon. In order to continue enjoying her relaxing cup of cafe con leche in the Plaza Mayor, Mayor Botella wants to cut personal car use in the city centre by 23% this year, and almost eradicate it by 2020.

Junta (quietly) admits major transport works will be delayed due to lack of funds

The Junta’s Minister for Public Works & Housing, Josefina Cruz (her of the “Brits are scum” comments in Parliament) has very quietly admitted that due to lack of cash the Junta will miss or delay most of the targets in it’s five year Andalucian Transport Plan (PISTA2007-2013). “The plans were drawn up when there was more money available, and with less money we cannot do as much” she muttered to a reporter in Seville. Almeria airport as bad as Mexico city for theft of luggage

A recent survey by consumer group OCU of 150 airports across the world (10,000 people were asked about their experiences) shows that Almería airport is as bad as Mexico City airport, or Rio de Jainero airport, for theft from luggage. What isn’t explained is if this means that Almeria is surprisingly high in thefts, or Mexico city astoundingly low.
