A triumphant piece in today’s La Voz (page 26) talks about The Guardian’s piece on modern day slavery in Almería’s greenhouses (remember this fuss?). The Guardian manipulated us, claim professors quoted in article, as letters sent to ZP

La Voz de Almería’s defense of the province against the accusations that Almería’s agriculture is based on “modern day slavery” published recently in The Guardian continues, with another four pages dedicated to the issue. This time, the newspaper has gone and asked the professors from Almeria University quoted in the article if they agreed with the article. Further to yesterday’s editorial denouncing the “lies, manipulation and stupidity of The Guardian” by our local Pravda, La Voz de Almería, the newspaper continues with this theme today, dedicating most of the front page, and pages 2-6 to the issue. The Guardian inflames province by accusing it of “modern day slavery” in the greenhouses

The Guardian has run an inflammatory piece claiming that the produce in Almería’s greenhouses are produced by Africans working in “conditions of 16th century slavery”. Spain’s salad growers are modern-day slaves, say charities (The Guardian.co.uk). Charities working with illegal workers during this year’s harvest claim the abuses meet the UN’s official definition of modern-day slavery claims the article.
