Adecco Audiovisual is looking for 400 extras for a cowboy film being filmed in Tabernas between the 21st Sept and 23 Oct. Castings will take place next Monday in a hotel in Almeria city. People with good English accents may be offered a speaking part ( ! ) First come, first served warns Adecco, in an apparent attempt to provoke a riot on the day.
A medical helipad has opened in Tabernas, the eighth in the province. The idea behind these helipads is ambulances attending critical accidents can radio for a medical helicopter to transport the patient to the main hospital in Almeria, then meet the helicopter at the helipad and transfer the patient, saving at least a half hour vehicle trip to Almería. 200 sales chains from across the Iberian Peninsula were present in Mojacar over the weekend as BMW Motorrad chose the area to show off the 2014 range of BMW motorbikes. So that explains why there were so many BMW motorbikes on the roads over the weekend.
Yesterdays rain caused a flash flood which trapped 34 workers on a film set for Exodus in Tabernas desert, near Fort Bravo. Seems they had to flee the riverbed and drive up a bank, where upon they promptly got stuck in seven or eight different vehicles. Fire vehicles and Guardia Civil pulled them free through the stream. No injuries.
Berja is in a state of panic after the Mayor hit the emergency button, after seeing a “panther” in the park. The small town (above and to the left of Almeria city) has been running around in a panic ever since residents started reporting a large feline roaming loose in the local park. An official consortium of Almerian businesses have tendered a project suggesting that Sheldon Adelson, the US billionaire, builds his infamous “EuroVegas” in Tabernas desert, Almería. Sheldon wants to replicate Las Vegas in Europe, and is currently debating between spending billions building casinos and hotels in a new macrocity outside Madrid or Barcelona. According to The Sun, an episode of Doctor Who is being filmed right here in Tabernas.
