Almería council criticised for hiring private security guards to control traffic during Holy Week

The town council of Almería has been criticised for allowing private security officers to take over traffic duties during the Holy Week parades as there aren’t enough local police officers to cope. Vera in trouble for cancelling offensive play

Vera townhall is in trouble for cancelling an “offensive” play poking fun at Easter in the municipal theatre. “Estrella sublime” is a comedy which pokes fun at local Easter (semana santa) parades. Hotels closed for Easter

Almería is the second province of Andalucia with the most hotels not bothering to open for Easter, with nine hotels confirming that they will not be opening early for the break. The hotels all say that preliminary bookings are not high enough to warrant opening up the hotels, although they are expected to open at the end of May for the summer season. That’s 3714 hotel rooms out of the loop.
