In three months time Catalunya will run a referendum upon independence- that Madrid has ruled illegal. Tough, says the generalitat it’s going ahead anyway. Rajoy loses it on national radio and is rather publicly humiliated

There’s a reason PM Rajoy doesn’t do more interviews – he’s crap at them. He went on Onda Cero’s “Más de Uno” national radio show today to talk about this weeks Catalan elections, which the nationalist parties are turning into a referendum. Rajoy tells Scotland to feck off

Rajoy said this morning that he, and any future Spanish government, would ensure that Scotland would never enter the EU. Más of Catalonia warned last night that he refuses to rule out the possibility of “unilateral independence” for the region if Madrid continues to refuse to discuss greater autonomy for Barcelona. “It’s not our first option, or the best one, nor the one we want. Catalonia independence consultation vote called for 9th November

Artur Más, the President of Catalonia, has defied Madrid and ordered a “referendum” on independence to be called for the 9th November. Madrid has already told Catalonia it can’t hold the vote, but Barcelona has said “tough, we’re going to anyway”. No to bullfighting in Paterna referendum

Today the city of Paterna, in Valencia, held a referendum on whether or not to allow to continuation of bullfighting and the traditional “corrida” held there every year. 68% said NO.
