Priors construction permit annulled by the high court, compensation now expected

The High Court of Justice in Andalucía (TSJA) has decided that the construction permit issued by Vera Townhall to the Priors (the ones who had their house knocked down) back in 2003 was issued incorrectly and hence is annulled. The court case was bought by Vera townhall in an attempt to justify their issuing of the license. Vera townhall says Priors situation is “unjust” and promises a better home for them

Vera has been paying, since 2010, 600€ a month to a homeowner on Puerto Rey in order to comply with the judicial order that they had to provide free accomodation for the Priors, the couple whose home was knocked down in the town. However, the Priors refused to occupy this home, saying that the home was not adecuate for their needs, and did not comply with the judicial order. Caparros insists that the Prior house was illegal, despite ruling by Constitutional Court

Despite the recent ruling by the Constitutional Court that overturned the court order that lead to the infamous destruction of the Priors house in Vera, Luis Caparros (Mr Bulldozer) has made a public statement in which he claims that the C.C. ruling only applies to the execution of the order, and does not invalidate the basic illegality of the house or the outcome of the first court case. Almeria on ITV tomorrow night

My buddie Chris Marshall from Almerimar advises me (see his whole post here) that the ITV programme “New Homes from Hell 2009 – Buying Abroad” is due to be on Tuesday 17th March 2009 on ITV1 at 8pm (This programme will be repeated on ITV2 the following day at the same time) and will display coverage of January’s protest march in Almeria city against the Prior demolition and others urbanistic abuse.

Priors met the Junta yesterday – Junta refuses to comment on outcome

Helen & Len Prior, the couple who had their house demolished in Vera, met yesterday at the promised meeting between the Junta de Andalucia (Mr Demolition man himself, Caparros was there) and the Mayor of Vera. Both the Mayor and the Junta have so far refused to issue any statement on the outcome of the meeting, according to the Spanish press, and I can’t find any updates from the Priors.
