The case of the public prosecutor and the stolen Mercadona trolley

Some eagle eyed readers of a newspaper recently spotted this lovely little gem of a photo which is trending on Spanish social media: The gent in the photo is the Public Prosecutor of the Balearic Isles, who is currently very busy making sure the Infanta Elena (of the Royal Family) doesn’t get done in the Caso Noos (he wants the case dropped and all charges struck from the record). Behind him is an obviously pinched Continue reading The case of the public prosecutor and the stolen Mercadona trolley

Mercadona soya milk… may contain real milk.

Whoops. Mercadona has issued an urgent recall of the Soya Milk it sells, as it may contain traces of real milk. Soya Milk is popular with the lactose intolerant as it doesn’t actually contain milk. The affect products are Hacendado Soya Milk with product codes L-4BXXXX 2504SS & L-4BXXXX 2404SS with expiry dates 22/08/2014 & 23/08/2014. Hungry looters ask police “if Mayor can loot for food, why can’t we?”

A group of twenty unemployed youths broke into a small Coviran in Seville over the weekend, stealing booze and food from the shop. After police arrived and nabbed three of them, their official defense, according to the police statement, was that they assumed it was alright to “steal if you’re hungry” because the Mayor of Marinaleda did so last week and nothing bad has happened to him. Well, quite. Not altogether accurante, as they don’t Continue reading Hungry looters ask police “if Mayor can loot for food, why can’t we?”

Mojacar puts up signs outside supermarkets threatening fines for people drinking booze in the streets

And what better place to remind people than with a large sign as you enter the supermarket to buy your booze? Just to remind the kids that if they’re caught in a botellón it’s 100€ a head. I wonder what their definition of a botellón is? What if it’s just me and another lad? Ah well.

Looting mayor to be investigated (note: not arrested)

The Minister of Justice has personally ordered an investigation into whether or not the mayor of Marinaleda, who looted a bunch of supermarkets in his town and ordered neighbours to riot against the Police, has broken any laws. Eh? He ordered his local police away, got 400 odd rioters to fight off the National Police patrols that turned up and ransacked two Mercadonas and a Carrefour, causing at least two cashiers to need medical aid Continue reading Looting mayor to be investigated (note: not arrested)

Mayor and unionists rob supermarkets to “give food to the poor” in Marinaleda

The Mayor of Marinaleda (Seville) broke into two Mercadona supermarkets in his town today and looted a load of goods which he says are “for the poor of the village”. José Manuel Sánchez Gordillo (IU) together with dozens of people, mainly from the left wing union SAT – some reports say up to 500 looters were seen. The so-far-left-wing-its-lost-over-California union Sindicato Andaluz de Trabajadores (SAT), under the leadership of this prat Sánchez, said that they Continue reading Mayor and unionists rob supermarkets to “give food to the poor” in Marinaleda

Mercadona killer dog food recalled by makers

Tunaliment, the makers of the “Mercadona killer dog food” which you may have heard about, has issued a product recall, one of the few I can remember actually seeing in the paper. (Page 2 of La Voz today, a large ad, and many other Spanish newspapers I understand). It seems that Compy dog food in brick format (cartons) is being recalled from 190 Mercadona stores in Albacete, Alicante, Murcia and Almería where it was being Continue reading Mercadona killer dog food recalled by makers
