Jet2: no plans to fly to Almeria

Despite much excitement  last summer about Jet2 planning to fly to Almeria airport, including a leak from the county council about the plans, I’ve just been in touch with Jet2 who say “it’s not currently in our plans for 2016” to fly here. Jet2 may be coming to Almería

Cadena Ser radio reports that Jet2 is in discussions today with local authorities about using Almería airport as its regional base. There has been no official confirmation from the company, but the radio reports a leak saying that the airline is looking at operating flights from May to October, and if successful, could extend this to all year round flights. Junta pays Jet2 and BA for more tourists

What most people booking a cheap holiday in the sun don’t seem to realise is that their friendly tour operator back in the UK is actually being bribed to attract them to Spain. New Murcia airport to start flights in December (and please tell them when San Javier will close, whinges Sacyr)

The new international airport at Murcia, Corvera airport, will start trialling commercial flights in December, according to local paper La Opinion de Murcia. AENA, the airports operator, has submitted a request to the Spanish flight authorities AESA to open the air routes as from mid December.
