5000 year old cave painting destroyed in Jaen

“Los Escolares” is a small cave, so called because it was discovered in 1973 by a bunch of schoolkids on an outing. The kids, venturing into this 1,5 metre square cave in Santa Elena (Jaen), were amazed to find an intact 5,000 year old cave painting at the back of the cave. How Jaen spent 120 million euros on a tram which never worked

Jaén has finally mothballed its tram system, which cost the city 120 million euros, never carried a paying passenger, and in fact, never ever started running past initial trials. 15 months jail for throwing a Chihuahua out of the window

A woman in Jaen has been sentenced to 15 months in jail, and fined 900€ plus vets fees for throwing a neighbours Chihuahua out of a third storey window. It seems that the dog escaped from the flat next door and entered into the womans apartment when she left the door open. Crime continues to fall across region

The latest crime data released by the Jefatura Superior de Policía de Andalucía Oriental suggests that despite the recession, crime across Eastern Andalucia (Jaén, Málaga, Almería, Granada) continues to drop, with 14.06% fewer crimes being committed so far this year over 2009. The two types of crime with the biggest drops are bag snatching (a 31% drop) and vehicle theft (22% drop). A judge in Jaén has been suspended for a year after trying to close down a shop in a personal vendetta. After using half a bottle of perfume she decided she didn’t like the smell and tried to get her money back.
