Huércal Overa FC broken into

The locker rooms of Huércal Overa F.C. were broken into and vandalised last week, causing damage in excess of €6.000. The clubs locker room in the Campo El Hornillo football field outside the city suffered the night time attack by persons unknown. The break-in was discovered by the cleaners last Monday at 11am when they arrived to prepare the rooms ahead of that evenings game. The symbol was discovered during restoration works in the ancient castle there and is thought to be a unique example of a natural symbol in a Spanish Christian castle. Courier truck catches fire in Huercal Overa

Expecting an Amazon parcel? You may be in for a long wait after a DHL truck delivering to this area caught fire on the motorway by Huercal Overa last night. Drivers passing by alerted emergency services to flames coming out of the back of the truck and traffic police closed the motorway. Fire brigade rescue overweight woman from her flat in Huercal Overa

A morbidly obese woman has had to be removed from her flat by the fire brigade in Huercal Overa after she discovered she was too fat to fit in the lift. She was being assisted by paramedics at the time who wanted to take her in for a checkup, but they just couldn’t manoeuvre her out of her flat, so they called the bomberos. Local foodbank stores ruined by sewage flood

The store-room of the Huercal-Overa Caritas food bank has been flooded by a blocked sewage pipe, and dozens of kilos of foodstuff have had to be binned. Caritas, the charitable organisation of the Catholic Church, said this was not the first time the basement room had flooded due to blocked sewage pipes running from the Costa Fleming urbanisation in which it’s sited, but this is the worst flood so far. Huercal Overa hospital sees all its surgeries closed – for good?

It seems that Huercal Overa Hospital is being turned into nothing more than a massive ward, as it hasn’t performed any surgeries for the last three months; and surgeons aren’t expected to return for the rest of this year. The Department of Health (sanidad) has issued a unified declaration of potability for the water of Galasa across the Levante. It comes after an extensive period of government testing of water at 83 urban centres across Carboneras, Mojácar, Turre, Antas, Arboleas, Cuevas del Almanzora, Garrucha, Huércal-Overa, Los Gallardos, Pulpí, Zurgena & Bédar.
