The economic situation is now getting so bad that the townhall of Girona (up north in Catalonia) has ordered that public bins be locked in order to stop scavengers getting in looking for food. It seems that the tramps digging through bins are offensive to some. The townhall will be putting stickers on the bins informing tramps of how to get “free food” from local social assistance programmes.
As part of Ryanairs’ plan to force the Generalitat to give it lots of money (same business plan as ETA, but with fewer iron bars and kneecaps, basically) it has continued its economic blackmail of Catalonia by pulling all of its flights to Reus airport.
