The locker rooms of Huércal Overa F.C. were broken into and vandalised last week, causing damage in excess of €6.000. The clubs locker room in the Campo El Hornillo football field outside the city suffered the night time attack by persons unknown. Spanish football goes on strike – all domestic matches cancelled

The Spanish Royal Football Association (RFEF) has called an indefinite strike as from the 16th after a new law was signed by Congress reducing the royalties paid for audiovisual rights. Andalucia has announced a sponsorship deal with Aston Villa (backing a winner there!) The deal is initially for two months (Nov and Dec) but is expected to be renewed for the forthcoming season. Spanish football clubs owe 564 million euros in unpaid tax

The chap who famously threw a dog at a referee recently at a football match in Olula del Rio has been fined 200 euros by the local courts. Man who threw dog at referee done for animal abuse and hooligalism

A fellow at a local footie match at Olula del Rio was so angry by the ref’s decision that he picked up a dog sitting quietly next to him and threw it at the ref when he came nearby. The dog, which was more startled than anything, quietly limped away, whilst its owner punched the aggressor in the face.
