Turre puts out tender for bars during the feria, puts limits on prices

In a surprise move, Turre council has put out to tender the two bars that will be permitted at this years feria. If you want to run one of them it will cost you 2,500€ plus 200€ flat fee for water & electricity. You’ll also need to have all your paperwork in order and a public liability insurance minimum of 50k. Each bar must have a minimum of 15 tables and 60 chairs. Turre Mayor appears to admits tax evasion with townhall cash to pay for the feria…

A radio interview from 2010 is currently doing the rounds in Turre where the current Mayor, Arturo Grima, appears to admit to having evaded tax by paying €60,000 from townhall coffers towards the town fiesta in 2007 without declaring taxes. Arturo was Mayor of Turre from 1995-1999, when he was barred from re-election for 8 years for abuse of office during his term. Turre fiesta this weekend: programme of events

It’s the Turre fiestas de Santiago this weekend (20 – 22 July). San Santiago actually has his shindigs on the 25th (which is a public holiday in Galicia) but hey, let’s have it over the weekend. Turre fiesta 2012

A number of people have asked me when the 2012 Turre fiesta is. So I went and looked it up.
