The hit videogame “Assassin’s Creed” is to be turned into a blockbuster movie, part of which will be filmed here in the province this December. The rest of the film is being produced in Malta and London. The production company has started to prepare filming contracts and search for extras in the province. An unspecified amount of the forthcoming film by Kevin Reynolds, “Clavius”, is to be filmed in the province. Reynolds worked with Kevin Costner on Robin Hood and Waterworld. His latest film is a mystery about the death of Christ, starring Joseph Finnes and Tom Felton (who appeared in Harry Potter). Entertainment Weekly says Game of Thrones producers are in advanced talks to film a lot of series 5 of the hit series in Andalusia. Following on from the successful Exodus filming in Almería, other big producers have “rediscovered” the south of Spain, and cheap labour is certainly available at the moment!
Yesterdays rain caused a flash flood which trapped 34 workers on a film set for Exodus in Tabernas desert, near Fort Bravo. Seems they had to flee the riverbed and drive up a bank, where upon they promptly got stuck in seven or eight different vehicles. Fire vehicles and Guardia Civil pulled them free through the stream. No injuries.
Ridley Scott has announced he will cancel the Mojacar casting for his film “Exodus” for security reasons, as far too many people are turning up for them. Today’s casting in Moises Ruiz stadium in Almeria has attracted over 7,000 candidates, most of whom are queueing in the street blocking traffic, causing huge problems in that section of Almería. Sir Ridley Scott, the British film producer, has announced he is to film “Exodus”, a film based on the story of Moses, here in Almeria.
