39 drown off Almeria coast

39 people are believed to have drowned this morning after their boat went down. The Spanish coastguard have been looking for a patera (immigrant boat) since Wednesday night after being warned that one with 54 passengers had set sail from Morroco to reach Spain. Three people have been saved on La Rumina beach in Mojacar just hours after a man drowned on another nearby Mojacar beach. A 59 year old man from Madrid drowned on Bancal beach in Mojacar (down towards Hotel Best Indalo) this afternoon after he was dashed against rocks by strong currents.
