The Guardia Civil have charged the young man who sadistically stamped a pet dog to death with animal cruelty. F.F.R., 18 years old and resident in Cuevas del Almanzora, set his Alsatian on the pet dog of an 84 year old woman in front of her for amusement, and when his dog lost interest, proceeded to kick the small animal to death. Some 650 homes across Cuevas del Almanzora have been deemed illegal after a judge rolled up dozens of separate court cases into one massive case and confirmed the annulment of the towns 2003 zoning plan (PGOU). A 24 year old man in Cuevas has been arrested for beating his neighbours dog to death and then taunting the owner, an 84 year old woman, about how he killed the animal. The story is even worse than that, as the dog was her grand-daughters, who had very recently been killed in a car crash. A gang of youth preying on OAP’s, mainly elderly women in Vera and Cuevas, have been arrested. Five men ageing from between 16 to 31 have been arrested by the Guardia Civil, living in Arboleas and Zurgena. They would travel down to Cuevas or Vera to either mug OAP’s, or snatch their bags. The body of 60 year old British man living in Zurgena who went missing yesterday has been found in Cuevas. Guardia Civil teams searching for the man, who suffered from amnesia, were alerted to the presence of a body at the bottom of the Cala del Peñón Cortado. 2 residents of Vera and one of Garrucha have been nicked by the rozzers after they burgled at least 14 houses used as second homes in the Cuevas and Pulpi areas. The Guardia Civil say they were highly organised and carefully scoped out their targets over a series of days, before picking only the best homes and emptying them in a quickfire nighttime raid once they were sure the home was empty.
