Almería’s museum given top marks by influential Chinese guide book

The Museum of Almería has been declared a “Top Choice 2015” by the Lianorg Guide, an influential Chinese guidebook which helps Chinese & Japanese tourists plan their Western holidays. The award was given based on feedback by tourists to the Museum during 2014, as well as a visit by the local representative of the guide, who praised the Museum’s hard work in putting up information in both Chinese & Japanese. Chinese garlic killing the Spanish stuff

You can’t get much more typically Spanish than a nice garlic soup, my kitchen speciality, but there have been tears before bedtime after the EU upped the annual Chinese import levels of garlic by 21%. Huercal Overa slaps huge tax on new Chinese shops

Huercal Overa has lowered taxes on opening new businesses, but slapped a huge new opening tax on large “Oriental” style shops, of 20,000€. So if you want to open a Chinese shop over 700 m2, you have to pay this tax to get your opening license. The townhall justifies this move by saying that these shops are proliferating and destroying other businesses in the town. Chinese Restaurant Turre

Hmm… How to put this? Well, it’s dreadful. Soggy, over cooked food 100% of the time. Service is atrocious. Last time I was in there two of the staff had a slanging match between themselves in the middle of the restaurant. Food takes ages, which as it tastes as if it’s been heated up in a microwave I can’t understand why. Only reason it’s still going (IMHO) is because they must have rich investors.
