Catalonia has been advised that it will lose control of budgetary spending after Madrid spotted that it has over-spent the whopping amount of €6,150 towards the independence referendum (out of a total budget of €24 billion). Barcelona says unilateral independence the only way forwards

The Catalan Govern warned today that unilateral independence is their only way forwards after Rajoy closed off any chance of negotiating a referendum. Rajoy tells Scotland to feck off

Rajoy said this morning that he, and any future Spanish government, would ensure that Scotland would never enter the EU. Mariano Rajoy delivered a furious speech today in Barcelona, during which he said he would NOT permit a referendum on Catalan autonomy, said any such referendum was ILLEGAL, would NOT permit any actions that would lead to a breakup of Spain, would TAKE ACTION against anyone who tried hold a referendum and would NOT enter into any discussions on the matter.

They needed a two thirds vote and they got it, after three PSC MPs broke party discipline and voted in favour of the measure.
