Cajamar, a flipping useless bank which takes delight in trapping the unwary

Cajamar appears to a have an official policy of putting little traps in the path of the unwary financial traveller. For example, I recently signed a zero commission agreement with them for cheques. Everytime I pay a cheque into the company account, they used to charge €1, but this got rid of it. Fair enough. The recent waves of bank closures in Andalucia got me thinking about the state of the banking sector in the region. Catalunya Banc to close all Andalucian offices at the end of the month

The newly formed Catalunya Banc (CatalunyaCaixa) will close all offices in Andalucia at the end of the month, leaving its Andalucian clients with the offer of internet only banking. It only has three offices remaining in Almeria province after having closed several others last year. Catalunya Banc was formed at the end of 2011 by the forced merger of several bankrupt Catalan caixas, and is currently majority owned by the state run FROB. CAM “independent risk committee” was run by a professional ballerina (no wonder they went bust)

Isabel Cambronero has been called before the Valencian Córtes, to testify about the collapse of the Valencian savings bank. Isabel, a professional classical ballerina by trade, also happened to be (a now ex) head of the banks risk committee, and has possibly made history by complaining to the government investigation committee that “nobody ever told her that there was any sort of a problem at the bank”.
