The Basque city of Vitoria has voted in “savage” animal protection laws, which the city council claims are the strongest in Spain. However, donkey races and bullfighting are still permitted. A woman in Jaen has been sentenced to 15 months in jail, and fined 900€ plus vets fees for throwing a neighbours Chihuahua out of a third storey window. It seems that the dog escaped from the flat next door and entered into the womans apartment when she left the door open. Moroccan man M.A. has been sentenced to three months in jail, commuted to deportation from Spain for a minimum of 10 years, for killing a stallion in El Ejido by inserting a large pole up the animals rectum.
