State & Junta both say Algarrobico hotel is ILLEGAL!

The Algarrobico hotel is ILLEGAL and its building license must be revoked, said the Public Prosecutor in open court session today. The Supreme Court of Andalucia (TSJA) is holding today a session to decide upon the legality of the building permits upon which the Algarrobico hotel in Carboneras was built. Algarrobico land compensation fixed by court (2,3 million euros) – demolition one step closer

Supreme Court confirms Algarrobico hotel is illegal but Carboneras fights on

The local courts said it was illegal. The regional courts said it was illegal. The National court said it was illegal. And now the Supreme Court of Spain has confirmed that it is illegal. But the townhall of Carboneras has insisted that the huge hotel built on the beach in Carboneras is legal and must be opened soonest. Does the Algarrobico hotel break the Costal protection law? Supreme court votes today!

Exciting!!! *girlish squeal We all remember the Algarrobico Hotel, the concrete monstrosity on the way to Carboneras that everyone (except the townhall, the promotor and the Junta de Andalucia) agrees was corruptly built with illegal permits in a doubly protected area (on the coast, and in a natural park of [previously -ed]  outstanding beauty). Supreme Court rules against Algarrobico hotel

The Supreme Court has ratified the ruling of the Andalucian Supreme Court (TSJA) ruling that the Junta de Andalucía’s attempt to change the natural park of Cabo de Gata to permit the opening of the El Algarrobico hotel is unlawful. Audiencia Nacional reaffirms that Algarrobico is on illegal land

The Audiencia Nacional (National Audience, or Supreme court) has found against Azata, the promotors of the Algarrobico hotel, in a ruling that appears to: – Reaffirm that the hotel was illegally built on protected land; -That the promotors are not entitled to any compensation for the modifications to the Partial Plan of the area.
