Two enormous Christmas trees in Madrid have been knocked over by high winds this morning. The trees, in Plaza de Colon and Cuesta de Moyano, fell before gusts of over 100kph. Nobody was hurt. Madrid townhall is asking residents to make sure everything on their baloneys is properly fastened down to avoid accidents.
The entire province is on “yellow” alert for high winds this Saturday and Sunday, which is when most of the population will be enjoying the 3 Kings. High winds and big waves are expected, with the alert being activated at midnight and running for 24 hours. Sunday will see the winds slowing down, but still gusty.
Almeria is on yellow snow alert as temperatures drop to -4ºC Tuesday night! Nacimimiento, Campo de Tabernas, Valle del Almanzora & Los Velez could receive up to 2 centimetres of snow, starting 10pm. The snow level could drop to about 700m according to the Met office. Although VERY cold it isn’t likely to rain too much.
