Restaurant La Parata, Mojacar Playa

This review is depreciated. John and Ann have moved to Restaurante La Fantasia on Mojácar Playa. La Parata is, of course, still open but now owned by someone else. Many, many, many years ago, La Parata was the benchmark for expat food in the area. John in the kitchen serving up exquisite delights, Anne out front with the family making you feel at home. It’s a strange location, as it’s right up in the hills Continue reading Restaurant La Parata, Mojacar Playa

Los Gurullos

Posted: 10:01@08.03.07 (Note: This review is now depreciated, and is only available as a historical note. This restaurant is now Il Osteria, a very good italian restaurant.) Los Gurullos, Mojacar Los Gurullos is a small restaurant, on your right as you descend the hill towards Mojacar playa, in front of the rug shop and just before the petrol station. Gurullos is a typical dish here in Mojacar, made with small pasta balls in a stew, Continue reading Los Gurullos

Orsoca

Updated 4th August 2008: It’s reopened! Find out what I think about Orsoca Turre here. Updated 13th April 2008: Upon my return from the UK, I notice that the Orsoca seems to have closed! Can’t say I’ll miss it’s current incarnation. What will it be next? Posted: 12:12@06.03.07 Restaurante Orsoca Many years ago, this was a family run restaurant, under the watchful eye of Maria, the matriarch who, clad in black, presided over the control Continue reading Orsoca

Bollywood Indian

Posted: 12:50@11.02.07 (Note: This review is now depreciated, and is only available as a historical note. No idea what it’s like now.) Bollywood Indian Restaurant, Mojacar It was a mild yet blustery February evening when I met up with my brother and his girlfriend for a meal. Deciding that I´d had far too much red meat this week (two visits to Loma Blanca in a week!) we went for an Indian. We were already on Continue reading Bollywood Indian

Candela

Posted: 09:44@05.12.06 (Note: This review is now depreciated, and is only available as a historical note.) Candela Bar & Restaurant Carboneras First of all, a small disclaimer. There could be some conflict of interest here, as I very nearly brought this restaurant for the current owner. I didn´t, mainly due to already being over committed on the work front (hey, this blog doesn´t write itself you know!), but I do enjoy popping in occasionally to Continue reading Candela

Loma Blanca

Posted: 11:13@03.11.06 (Note: This review is now depreciated, and is only available as a historical note. But it’s still a bloody good restaurant!) (NOTE: 04.12.08> No longer a restaurant. Read about it here.) Restaurante Loma Blanca Turre Quality watch! Updated: 1st Aug, 07 The original review was posted in September 2006. Well, since then I´m please to say that it continues to delight. Just last night we had the “Lechazo al horno” (Milk lamb oven Continue reading Loma Blanca

La Cantina Mexican

Posted: 07:20@03.11.06 (Note: This review is now depreciated, and is only available as a historical note.) Here is a later review (posted 10th Sept 2008) on La Cantina Mexican Restaurant Mojacar Playa. La Cantina Mexican Bar & Restaurant The trouble with Mexican food is that it´s not so much a cuisine, as it is a mixture of the same four basic foodstuffs. Still, occasionally it´s nice. If it´s well done. And in a nice setting. Continue reading La Cantina Mexican

Los Limoneros

Posted: 14:10@29.09.06 (Note: This review is now depreciated, and is only available as a historical note. The restaurant has just changed hands – March 2008) Los Limoneros Jardines de Agua, Cortijo Grande, Turre Terrible confession to make here – I´d been promising myself that I´d pop in here ever since I´d heard that it had reopened at the beginning of the summer. Yet, despite the fact that it´s just up the road from my house, Continue reading Los Limoneros

Taj Indian, Turre

Posted: 08:39@17.07.06 I always had great hopes of this one when it opened. Nice decor, comfortable settings, and initially good food. I went there, and I used to be happy. Not ecstatic, but fairly satisfied as I burped my way home. It was always a bugger that they didn´t do takeaways. Eventually, they started doing them, but with what some people might call a ´bad attitude´. They only did them between 7 and 8 p.m. Continue reading Taj Indian, Turre

Rodriguez Restaurant, Turre

Posted: 14:35@16.07.06 (Note: This review is now depreciated, and is only available as a historical note.) This used to be a mediocre restaurant and bar, until a couple of years ago it was taken over by some Russians, who opened Turres first Russian / Lithuanian / Peruvian bar. I was there late last year, for a Larios and tonic (why do they never have Gordons? I hate Larios!), and they had 3 TVs on, in Continue reading Rodriguez Restaurant, Turre
