Builder demonstrate at Turre townhall

A group of builders staged a demonstration in Turre’s townhall building today. They were protesting against a council order to stop work on a new building in Cabrera. The workers of Jose Gerez and their families congregated at the council offices to protest against the paralyzing of works. Nijar in grip of crime wave

Two lorry accidents close motorway

Two different accidents involving trailer lorries closed the A-7 motorway twice last Sunday. In the first incident, an articulated lorry carrying fruit caught fire at km point 549 near Húercal-Overa on the Murcía bound lane at 2:30 am, closing the motorway for more than eleven hours. Fire inspectors believe the lorry caught fire after a wheel exploded. The driver and passenger were able to escape from the blaze unhurt and alerted the authorities. Correos had a presentation yesterday of a commemorative stamp illustrating the thousand year anniversary of the Kingdom of Almería – 1014 – 2014. This seems to have come two years late, so I may be missing something in this story. 19 arrested in Almería for forcing abortions for the insurance money

A major police operation last night and today have resulted in 19 people being arrested in Almeria city for running an insurance scam in which women became pregnant, aborted, and then claiming they had miscarried due to traffic accidents, for the insurance money. 12 of the people arrested are women. Charges levied appear to be defrauding insurance companies, illegal abortion and belonging to a criminal gang. Women involved in the scam would fall pregnant.
