Africans who scammed Turre residents out of €12,200 caught

A “highly organised” group of African scammers have been arrested by the Guardia Civil after they scammed three residents of Turre out of 12,200 euros. The scam is a common one in Spain, the dollar wash scam. In essence, the scammers say they have smuggled a load of foreign currency into the country by covering them with a special paint. A new town is born: Balanegra splits from Berja

The village of Berja has been split off from the town of Berja by Ministerial decree today, and becomes the 103’rd municipality in Almería. There are now 778 municipalities in Andalusia, despite an earlier attempt by Rajoy to reduce the number of townhalls. Balanegra has been autonomous from Berja for the last 28 years as an “entidad de ámbito territorial inferior al municipio (EATIM)“, or territorial entity inferior in size to that of a municipality. BBQ and bonfires forbidden for the summer

The summer fire season has started and as from yesterday naked flames, BBQ’s, bonfires and the like are forbidden in open areas across Andalucia. They will remain illegal until the 15th of October.
