6 months jail for shooting neighbours’ dog

A man in Berja (the other side of Almería) has been sent down for six months (probably suspended) and fined €1023.55 for shooting a dog belonging to his neighbour.

Poochie, a podenco, was shot in the head with a shotgun and lost an eye on the 19th of April 2013, as well as having a lot of other superficial injuries.

R.V.E.R. was “irritated” by the barking of the dog, went over to the fence separating the two cortijos and shot him. The owner took his pet to a vets, and later denounced the man for animal cruelty and misuse of a firearm.

R.V.E.R. is also likely to lose his firearm permit for having misused it, although this is a decision on the part of the local Guardia Civil firearm department.
