Fines builds worlds’ largest marble statue

Fines, a tiny marble quarrying village up in the mountains, has built the worlds largest marble statue hewed from a single block of marble.

The statue, called “Liberty” (Libertad) is dedicated to all female victims of domestic violence and is dedicated to Rosa Galera, a local woman beaten to death by her husband in the village three years ago.

The four metre statue has been made by sculptor Roberto Manzano and is being sited at the entrance to the village this 8th of November. Andaluz Minister of Health Ana Mato is expected to attend.
