Your apartment roof can now be seized for a mobile phone mast

Live in a block of flats or apartments? Well, you could now soon be living under a mobile phone antenna, like it or not.

The new telecommunications law comes into force today which allows operators to forcibly expropriate “common communal parts” of blocks if they feel the need to install a whopping great big antenna there.

Nor will the operators need municipal licenses or environmental impact studies. Just roll up, point a finger, couple of forms, and two weeks later the humming overhead starts.

It’s all part of a drive to make sure we all have fast internet on our phones, and as someone who doesn’t live in an apartment block, I’d like to thank those who do for their generosity.
