The head of the Andalucian Energy Agency has been forced to resign over a scandal in which he stands accused of illegally connecting his own (illegally built) home to water and electricity.
Luciano Gónzález García stands accused by the Public Prosecutor of using his industry connections to force the connection of utilities to his illegally built home in Yunquera, Málaga. The townhall had denounced his home for being built without permits.
Ironically enough, Luciano is considered to be the mastermind behind the new Impulso a la Construcción Sostenible (Law for the Sustainable Construction programme) which is being debated at the moment in the regional parliament.
The resignation was announced by the Andalucian Minister for Economía, Innovación, Ciencia y Empleo, José Sánchez Maldonado, who had earlier been dragged into the scandal after telling reporters that “I refuse to ask any friend of mine to show me their utility bill”.
