A Madrid – Barcelona flight was evacuated after a joke went wrong this afternoon.
The flight was at Madrid’s Barajas airport when a passenger sent a whatsapp message to his wife joking that there were three suspicious looking islamists sitting across the row from him.
His wife, failing to understand the joke, rang the Guardia Civil saying that her husbands flight had been hijacked.
Armed police proceeded to storm the Vueling aircraft and searched everyone.
The man who sent the message could now be charged with a public disorder offence.
