A Morrocan woman who has lived in Catalonia since 1997 has been denied her Spanish nationality because she though Almeria was a country bordering Spain.
In a verbal immigration exam, when asked for the names of two countries bordering Spain, she replied “Almeria and La Jonquera”.
The correct answers, of course, being port-land and los gazbachos.
To be honest,
The Supreme Court has now ruled that the answer was sufficient proof that she hadn’t integrated into Spanish society, and turned down her application for Spanish nationality.
