Coca-Cola Iberian Partners has announced it will close four bottling plants, fire 750 workers and relocate a further 500 workers in an attempt to “rationalise” its Iberian workforce.
The Spanish arm of the company will shut factories in Fuenlabrada (Madrid), Alicante, Palma de Mallorca (Baleares) & Colloto (Asturias).
Its other 9 plants in A Coruña, Bilbao, Barcelona, Málaga, Sevilla, Santa Cruz de Tenerife & Valencia will continue to operate as normal. Coke reckons it has inefficiencies in its production line and wants a new “circular ring” model to distribute its products across the country.
