Baby kidnapper photo released, manhunt continues

The manhunt for the baby kidnapper in Gergal continues, and police have released a photo of the alledged kidnapper, Jonathan Moya González, a Spanish man who lives in the village. Manhunt for baby kidnapper underway in province

A 16 month old baby was snatched by a man in Gérgal (a village above Almería city) last Thursday, and police have confirmed that a manhunt is underway in the province to capture the kidnapper and retrieve the baby. It is believed that the man, who although known to the Spanish family had no direct connection to them, took the baby, possibly in exchange for a ransom. Cuidad Real village wants to join Andalucia

A village in Cuidad Real, on the border with Jaén, wants to jump ship and come over to Andalucía. The PSOE run village of Salona del Pino, which has 410 villagers, says that Cuidad Real is strangling the village and unless attitudes change it will be abandoned within a decade. Autofine camaras come to Almeria’s street

Almería has started to install camaras that will automatically fine any un-authorised vehicles that enter certain pedestrian streets. The new camaras will replace the old barriers that prevented people without access cards from entering these pedestrianised areas (delivery vehicles, people with access to the underground garages, etc). The system is being installed this week into C/ Méndez Núñez, and if deemed a success, will be rolled out across other streets in the capital. Evil rook from El Ejido caught

An nasty rook living in a roof in El Ejido has been caught by environmental police after “viciously” attacking several victims. People innocently walking down the street were attacked by the large bird, which swept down to peck and scratch at pedestrians. One victim needed medical attention for the scratches. The UGT in Andalucia has announced that it is to lay off 130 workers, and pay them only 20 days salary per year worked, as permitted to do under the labour reform rules implemented by the PP. AVE prices slashed to stop trains running empty

Ana Pastor, the national Minister for Development, has announced that as from 2013 her department will slash ticket prices on all AVE (high speed trains) as they are currently “astronomically high”. Ana told TVE1 today that despite Spain having an efficient and fast high speed train network, the trains are running half empty as people just can’t afford the ticket prices. Cadiz port area must pay back 80% of all EU cash after it couldn’t tell Brussels where the money went
