San Javier airport duty free concession offered – IU says this means Corvera “isn’t expected to open soon”

AENA, the airports operator, has issued a tender for the concession of a new duty free shop in San Javier airport. This is for a new shop, in the old airport.

IU, the political party, have now tabled a question in Murcia asking if this means that AENA does not expect Corvera to open any time soon.

After all, if AENA expects all operations at San Javier to cease in mid 2013, why are they tendering a seven year contract for a brand new duty free shop at the old airport, whose commencement date is after the expected closure date of the airport?

A damn good question. IU have the answer – nobody in AENA really expects San Javier to close.
