A 57 year old Colombian doctor, who holds dual French nationality, and who works at the El Ejido medical centre, had returned to work after having been arrested for distributing child porn online.
El Almeria newspaper reports that J.H.A. was held for several days at the national police and charged on several accounts of distributing pornography, corruption of minors and prostitution. He was later bailed awaiting his trial, and returned to work.
Although he is by profession a surgeon, this “well known and respected” doctor also works as a GP at the El Ejido medical centre, and does emergency cover every four days.
J.H.A. was arrested in a worldwide operation involving the National Police, the FBI, Europol and the New Zealand police force.
The news that J.H.A. has returned to work came after another Colombian doctor, who is not involved in the case in any way, but who is a paediatrician in El Ejido, complained to his superiors that at least one patient had confused him with the accused and has since lodged a formal complaint with the Andalucian Health Service asking that J.H.A. be suspended from duties until the case is resolved. The innocent doctor has added that since the original incident he has received further threats from local patients who have confused him with J.H.A.
