Swedish Filesharing Religion is Legitimised

The Church of Kopimism, an organisation that values information and its copying above all else, has received religious legitimisation in Sweden.

Started in 2010, the Church of Kopimism has been attempting to receive accreditation by the Swedish government since, though it took several attempts due to what the Church’s website describes as “governmental organisations abiding by a very copyright friendly attitude, with a twisted view on copying.”

Kopimism has one core belief: that information is sacred, has value and that this value is only increased through copying of that information. The more wide spread ideas and knowledge are, the more valuable. There is no formal membership, only that one feels a “calling to worship what is the holiest of the holiest, information and copy.”
