A 1,4 million squre meter project to build two 18 hole golf courses and a thousand homes in Velez Rubio has been put out on public view by the Junta’s planning committee. The stated target audience is “wealthy OAP’s from other European countries”, according to La Voz, although “possibly some people from other points of Spanish territory may be interested”.
Urbanizadora Valle del Mahimón SL, the promotors, say that the golf courses will be of “an international standard”, along with the usual hotel, spa, wellness centre and other thingies. 10,4 million euros to setup, and the company hopes to sell 500 shares at 31,000€ apiece.
The greatest physical benefit to playing golf is getting exercise from walking. Walking for 18 holes is often the equivalent of walking 3-to-4 miles. This gets the golfer’s heart going and blood pumping. It is a stimulating if not rigorous activity. Golfer who play three or four times a week are getting quite a bit of exercise.
