Ecologistas en Accion have filed a submission at the Supreme Court of Andalucia (TSJA) to cancel the POTALA plan, saying that it is far removed from the official model of “compact Mediterranean cities” that the Junta of Andalucia is supposed to be behind. They argue that the plan to build up to 60,000 houses (35,000 in the Llano Central, 10,000 in Ballabona, 18,000 in El Puntazo, etc) are unsustainable, against all logic and not desired Continue reading Ecologistas en Accion ask Supreme Court (And) to cancel POTALA
Amazing. Ab-solutely bloody amazing. It´s not bad enough that the Cardinal of All Ireland said that “members of religious orders who have come clean with thier memories of child abuse are very brave people” for “confronting their own demons” (no, they´re bloody pedophiles who should be taken out the back and shot – I knew Communists weren´t all bad), we now have Cardinal Antonio Cañizares (God knows who he is, but seems important) saying on Continue reading Can we just abolish the Church and lock up all religous nutters?
Currently involved in a rather tricky court case over compensation. One of the other parties allegations is that in all previous communications with them, we never informed them we were communicating via a lawyer (despite the headed notepaper? The return address? The signature at the bottom and college affiliation of the signee? etc). To which I have just spotted (in the middle of 55 pages of closely typed legal arguments) that our reply is: (..)no Continue reading Hmmmm…. I can speak Spanish, you know
While browsing www.guardiacivil.es (trying to find out what a big red triangle on a guardia´s shoulder means, I´m assuming it doesn´t mean he´s Jewish) I came across “Consejos para los ninos”. Usual list for kids, don´t accept sweets from strangers, don´t get in strangers cars, wear a seatbelt… and yet, in a striking yellow that stands out the most, it says at the bottom “NEVER BUY ILLEGAL SOFTWARE. NEVER PIRATE SOFTWARE”. http://www.guardiacivil.es/infantil/Consejos/index.jsp Is this really Continue reading Guardia Civil priotities for young citizens
The Welcome Stranger is a restaurant I never knew about in a village I didn’t know existed. It’s in a hamlet called Limaria which is technically part of Arboleas, but you have to go through Albox to get there. I drove there over fields and dirt tracks in the Jeep and it was a rather surreal experience, coming over a hill into a large place full of luxury villas in the middle of absolutley bloody Continue reading Welcome Stranger Restaurant
Oh, it’s a form letter. Thought he’d finally seen sense and called upon me to help him through the next economic crisis. Something about an election. Is there an election soon? It’s in English, which is nice, and on about ole “strong chin” himself, Juan Fernando López Aguilar, the PSOE socialist candidate to the European Parliament, a man whose chin puts Arnie himself in the shade. As spotted by the PSOE website designer who did Continue reading A letter arrives from Mr Zapatero…
This has been hushed up a bit, but still…. 12 workers at the Deretil chemcial factory in Villaricos were taken to hospital after a tank containing 70,000 litres of high corrosive acid ruptured last Friday 15th May. All of the workers were working for a subcontracted company called COVISA. Deretil said that emergency procedures worked well, and the none of the 12 workers were seriously affected. It appears that while the spilt liquid was contained Continue reading Chemical leak at Deretil factory in Villaricos
I told my girlfriend today, “Don’t argue with me over the spelling of this word, I make a living off words and writing”. She replied, “No you don’t, you fritter away your living on words and writing”. Ouch. www.TheReader.es Prove her wrong, advertisers! (By the way, we’re looking for sales people in Albox, Roquetas and Pulpi areas)
