Endesa sign contract with IBM for 360 million euros to upgrade and maintain IT systems over next 6 years

Headline says it all, really. The question is, is this to update systems and stop fiascos like the electric estimations happening again; or is it because they have a bit of spare cash on hand because they emptied every pensioners bank account in Spain and know they don’t have to repay it?

  1. 360 million Euros to upgrade and maintain an IT system?
Gosh, how many books and pens could be purchased for the same amount. Imagine the real cost of keeping records of customer accounts manually with real paper and real ink?
Throw in a few software errors and bad data input by untrained operators and we see how easy it is to waste 360 million Euros!!

Not only that, since Sevillana-Endesa cannot guarantee an uninterrupted electricity supply around here, the whole project could go down the pan shortly after implementation!!
