Again many thanks. My house is one of 8 new ones overlooking the rambla. Its wonderfuly quiet and remote feeling despite being just minutes from the motorway. As an about to retire History teacher I look forward to doscovering more about the area's present & past.

Alfaix is a lot older then you might think! There were, and still are (although with the drop in the water table I believe they have dried up) some hot springs that lead to the construction in Moorish times of a bathing spot, which also lead to a few farmsteads around it. The oldest record I've found of Alfaix as Alfaix (being a hamlet, rather then just a farmstead or spring) was from the 1752 census which named "the hamlet of Alfaix", belong to the municipality of Bedar.

It always seemed as if Alfaix was mainly the local water well for local farms. Most of the people lived higher up in the mountains where it was cooler (the abandoned hamlets of Turre mountains, or La Huelga or Los Giles come to mind).
